For World Mental Health Day, we want to talk about what we usually keep silent about.
Right now, each of us is living in a state of chronic stress. In this reality, it is very easy to find yourself feeling guilty about the simplest things. Booking a massage, getting a fresh manicure, buying a new dress, or simply allowing yourself an hour without news and work chats — all of this suddenly feels unnecessary. It feels like “now is not the time.”
But the truth is, our lives cannot and should not consist only of tension, anxiety, and survival.
Reclaiming yourself
Of course, a visit to a beauty salon or a new hair color won’t stop the war. They won’t solve global problems, but they do something else — they bring back a sense of our own body, time, and life.
Sometimes, an hour in a stylist’s chair is just an hour in a beauty chair. But sometimes, it’s the only opportunity to physically ground yourself, take a deep breath, and remember that you are a living human being with your own feelings and needs, not just a function that has to hold it together 24/7.
Without permission and excuses
We are used to thinking that rest or self-care needs to be “earned” somehow. First, you have to do everything useful, handle all tasks, and only then, if you have any energy left, think about yourself. But usually, your energy runs out much sooner.
Let’s admit a simple truth to ourselves:
Taking care of yourself when things around are tough is completely normal.
Rest does not need to be earned through hard work or suffering.
Self-care and beautiful things require no excuses or permission.
It is impossible to share warmth, support loved ones, and work when your own internal resources are empty. Burnout doesn’t make anyone strong. Perhaps it is from this small, caring hour for yourself that the very strength begins—the one that helps us stand firm and be there for others.
Allow yourself to breathe out. Your BACKSTAGE
