With the arrival of summer, we usually pack away our winter wardrobe and buy sunscreens for the face, but for some reason, we forget about our hair. And then we wonder why our favorite conditioner, which worked perfectly back in spring, has suddenly become useless, and our locks have turned into harsh straw.

“UV radiation works invisibly but aggressively: it destroys keratin, the main building block of hair, and strips away the natural lipid layer. Because of this, hair becomes porous, dull, and rapidly loses moisture. Your usual conditioner only works on the surface, which is why it is not enough in the summer. Right now, hair needs more than just basic care — it requires powerful protection and deep restoration.”
What to look for in product ingredients?
To protect your locks from fading and dryness, Kateryna advises carefully checking the labels of masks, serums, and leave-in sprays. There are three key components that should definitely be in your summer arsenal:
- Antioxidants — block the action of free radicals and protect color from fading.
- Keratin — fills in the micro-voids formed by the sun.
- Hyaluronic acid — retains scarce moisture inside the cells.
On the other hand, it is best to avoid products with high alcohol content and overly heavy oils in hot weather — under the sun, they will only accelerate dryness.

Among tried-and-tested products, the art stylist highlights the Kerastase Soleil sun line, specifically designed to restore the lipid barrier after the beach or long city walks.
